An e-commerce giant in Santa Catarina is banned from selling online after a flood of customer complaints. Yeesco, based in Brusque, was notified by the municipal Procon this Monday (29). According to the consumer protection agency, the company has accumulated 62 thousand complaints in the last 12 months on the Reclame Aqui website. This means around 170 complaints per day. The main one is non-delivery and delays in product deliveries.

A resident of Itajaí told the report that she made a purchase on the Yeesco website in December 2023, with the clothing expected to arrive within 30 days. Four months later, she still hasn’t received her purchases and hasn’t heard back from her attempts to contact the company. The client’s report is just one of several shared on the internet. The company’s social networks are a thermometer of the situation: comments were restricted on Instagram and the majority of reactions on Facebook are negative.

“Yeesco has one of the largest sales websites in the entire country, but it is also one of the Brazilian record holders for complaints on Reclame Aqui”, informed Procon de Brusque in a note.

According to the agency, the store will no longer be able to sell products through the website until it complies with the provisions of the Consumer Protection Code and the Delivery Law. Among them: indicate precisely the delivery time of the product and at the time of purchase, even electronically, deliver the document mentioned in article 4 of the Law 15,779/2012, with the legally required information. Once these obligations are met, the company can sell normally.

Despite the notification, on Tuesday afternoon (30), Yeesco continued with online sales. According to Procon, the Brusquense company should be fined R$10,000 per day of non-compliance. An in-person hearing is scheduled for May 16. Physical stores continue to sell.

What Yeesco says

The company expressed itself in a note:

We are a company from Brusquão, which has been selling its products via e-commerce and physical stores for 4 years. During this period, more than 2 million and 200 thousand orders have already been sent throughout Brazil, and more than 100 thousand people access our website every day, putting another company from Brusquão in the national spotlight, being one of the 10 largest e-commerce platforms of fashion in the country. We are more than 300 direct employees and more than 1000 indirect employees, that is, thousands of families who depend on the company.

Procon’s decision is hasty, as it does not analyze the volume of complaints in relation to the number of orders that Yeesco places every day. Procon de Brusque’s decision gives the company a deadline to regularize some points in its operation, such as clearer information on delivery times, in addition to what already exists. Therefore, Yeesco and the agency talk so that, if necessary, the points can be regularized.

It is also worth mentioning that the company acts as a physical and online seller, which implies a chain of suppliers and service providers, such as transport companies, raw material suppliers, outsourced services for all areas, and in large part of complaints, the occurrences are not the fault of Yeesco, but as it is the company that makes the sale, it ends up being the focus of the complaint.
