Senator Cleitinho Azevedo (Republicanos-MG) appeared in the plenary of the House this Tuesday (2/4) to say that if anyone wanted to know why Jair Bolsonaro (PL) spent two nights at the Hungarian embassy they should ask the former First Lady Michelle (PL).
“I don’t see any problem with having spent a night at the embassy. My husband is faithful. I trust him completely,” said Michelle Bolsonaro in an audio shown by the parliamentarian. She also said that her “husband is a worthy, fair, honest man with values who loves his nation, who has always worked for it.”
However, the suspicions regarding the former president’s stay at the embassy are not related to any alleged extramarital relationship, but rather in relation to an alleged attempt to request asylum or escape from investigations into an alleged attempted coup d’état.
The images posted by the American newspaper The New York Times show Bolsonaro’s arrival at the Hungarian embassy days after having his passport seized by the Federal Police (PF) during an operation.
The Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, carried out in 1963, determined that “consular premises shall be inviolable” and that “the authorities of the receiving State may not enter part of the consular premises (…), except with the consent of the head of the consular office”.
Bolsonaro’s defense claimed, after minister Alexandre de Moraes gave 48 hours for the stay to be explained, that the former president maintains “close dialogue with the authorities of that country, dealing with strategic issues of international politics”.

Despite having a residence just a few minutes from the embassy, former president Jair Bolsonaro spent two nights at the diplomatic representation.
An ally of Bolsonaro, Cleitinho continued his thesis that the former president’s stay there is a concern for his wife.
“She’s the one who has to worry, if she’s not worried, why are you worried? (…) Respect Bolsonaro’s family,” he said.
