Walewska’s widower charges rent so that his in-laws can live in his daughter’s property

Lawyer Eric Vaccarezza, who represents the parents of former volleyball player Walewska Oliveira, brought to the press the information that businessman Ricardo Alexandre Mendes, the athlete’s widower, was charging her parents rent for the apartment left by their daughter.

According to the statement released by the lawyer, Mendes sent an unauthorized notification to his in-laws informing him of the charge. The businessman is the inventor of the assets left by Walewska, who did not leave a will.

“This is because the family is seeking clarification about the fate of Walewska’s assets. There are 23 properties and a significant amount of financial resources invested in her name and in the company she had with her mother, as Ricardo declared in court that there is nothing left and that now there is only a debt of R$5 million”, said lawyer Eric Vaccarezza.

Recalling the case, Walewska Oliveira died in September of the previous year, after falling from the 17th floor of the building where she lived, in São Paulo. Geraldo and Aparecida de Oliveira, parents of the former player, published an open letter shortly after their daughter’s death.

“Wal was a young woman who never strayed from her origins, always humble and attentive to everyone. What remains now is the memory of the competent professional, loyal friend and much-loved daughter that she will always be,” they wrote.
