The Civil Police, through the Alto Araguaia Police Station, launched this Tuesday (02.04), Operation Choque de Ordem II’ to comply with six court orders, including search and seizure warrants and arrests, against members of the criminal association involved in the practice of crimes of homicide, torture and drug trafficking in the city.

The operation is part of the work of Operation Erga Omnes, launched by the Civil Police Directorate, to combat the activities of criminal factions throughout the state of Mato Grosso.

Two of the targets of the preventive arrest warrants are being investigated for the death of Aléquis Batista Lúcio, which occurred on January 1, 2024. The victim was tortured and had his body thrown on the railway line, close to the city.

The third target of preventive detention is being investigated for his participation in two attempted murders that also occurred at the beginning of the year, in addition to being part of a group responsible for drug trafficking in the city. After a raid carried out on January 5th in a residence located in the Parque do Cerrado neighborhood, where a large quantity of drugs and weapons were found, the suspect’s participation in the crimes was also revealed.

After this incident, those under investigation fled to the city of Sonora, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, where they continued to commit crimes, including participating in the execution of a businessman from the city, owner of a pizzeria, on January 21, 2024. In this incident, one of the suspects, who was also the subject of investigation in Alto Araguaia, died after confronting police forces.

Warning

The other person involved, the target of the arrest warrant for the operation launched this Tuesday (02), is being held in the Campo Grande (MS) prison.

Still within the work of the operation, with the use of re-educated students from the local Public Prison and support from the Criminal and Military Police, the covering/repainting of various graffiti on walls and public places, related to condoning crimes, is also being carried out.

According to the delegate of Alto Araguaia, Marcos Paulo Batista de Oliveira, it has been noted that the vast majority of crimes in the city, from those considered to have less offensive potential to serious and heinous crimes, such as homicide and robbery, including those related with domestic violence, are directly linked to drug trafficking and use.

“It is the objective of the Civil Police, following guidance from the General Directorate, to strongly combat drug sales in the city, within the scope of Operation Erga Omnes, which covers the entire State and will be permanent during the year 2024”, pointed out the delegate.
