Belo Horizonte recorded at least five points of flooding in the early evening of this Tuesday (2), due to heavy rain hitting the capital. Check below the complete list of points mapped by Itatiaia.

According to the Municipal Civil Defense, the West, Central-South, East and Northeast regions of BH recorded rain showers. The most affected regions were the Center-South and East, which had rain classified as extremely heavy (when it rains more than 5 mm every five minutes).

In a statement released by the Municipal Civil Defense, at 3:55 pm, the agency reported that BH had a forecast of rain showers of up to 20 mm, with lightning and wind gusts of around 45 km/h. The alert is valid until 8am this Wednesday (3).

Check the flooding points:

  • At the meeting point of Paulo Diniz Carneiro Street and Heitor Menin Street, between the Buritis and Estoril neighborhoods.
  • There is also a lot of water on the road on Avenida Mário Werneck, in Buritis.
  • Corner of Pouso Alegre street, with Matias Barbosa, in the Floresta neighborhood.
  • Record of flooding also on Rua Joaquim Murtinho and Avenida Prudente de Morais, in Santo Antônio.
  • Avenida Cônsul Antônio Cadar, in Santa Lucia.

Civil Defense recommendations:

  • Redouble your attention! Avoid flood areas and do not travel on streets subject to flooding or near streams and rivers during heavy rain.
  • Do not cross flooded streets or let children play in floodwaters or near streams.
  • Do not take shelter or park vehicles under trees.
  • Pay special attention to slopes and hills.
  • Never approach broken electrical cables. Call CEMIG (116) or Civil Defense (199) immediately.
  • If you notice cracks in the walls of houses or the appearance of cracks, depressions or water mines on the ground, notify Civil Defense immediately.
  • In case of lightning, do not remain in open areas or use electrical equipment.
