The Municipal Council of Varginha (MG) approved a bill that authorizes 10 minutes of free parking in the Varginha Rotational Parking System, known as “Blue Area”.
According to the project, the granting of free parking for a period of 10 minutes is authorized within the area covered by the Rotary Parking System areas.
The project is authored by councilor Dandan do Mercadinho, from Podemos. According to him, the objective is “simply to safeguard the principles of reasonableness and proportionality within the rotating parking service, demonstrating that whoever occupies and vacates the rotating space within a period of up to ten minutes has not compromised the rotation, and it is not reasonable to charge consumer the value for the full period when proportionally the use was so short”.
The councilor also concludes that this practice of tolerance is already included in many municipal laws regulating the paid rotating parking service throughout Brazil, and it is recommended that Varginha also adhere to the same.
The text now goes to the Executive Branch for analysis and sanction.
