SC taxpayers have until this Monday to guarantee a 95% discount on ICMS fines and interest

This Monday, April 1st, is the deadline for people from Santa Catarina who want to renegotiate ICMS debts with up to 95% discount on fines and interest when paying in cash or with the possibility of paying in up to 72 installments.

Starting this Tuesday, 2nd, Recupera Mais – Santa Catarina’s Fiscal Recovery Program enters a new stage: the biggest discount option will be 94% (in cash) and the available installments are up to 60 installments (discount 50% interest and fine until April 30).

The special conditions only apply to ICMS debts prior to December 31, 2022. Recupera Mais ends on May 31, but taxpayers with debts will have greater discounts and deadlines if they join the renegotiation in advance (see below).

Launched on January 15th by the State Department of Finance, Recupera Mais raised R$ 249 million until March 26th. Of this total, R$190 million was paid in cash in the renegotiation with the taxpayer. Another R$59 million refers to installments (payment of the first installment). Between January 15th and March 26th, just over 5,200 taxpayers from Santa Catarina renegotiated just over R$1.5 billion in ICMS debts with the tax authorities – 1,700 taxpayers paid in cash and 3,500 taxpayers opted for payment in installments. The road freight transport segments; restaurants and fuels lead the way in adhering to the program.

The State Department of Finance’s goal was to recover R$1.5 billion in taxes owed by taxpayers over the last ten years — the calculation took into account the results obtained in previous programs.

“In just over two months of the program, we renegotiated just over R$1.5 billion in ICMS arrears and reached the initial target. The result demonstrates the importance of Recupera Mais for the taxpayers of Santa Catarina who are willing to catch up on their bills to have credit, invest again and grow, which moves the entire economy”, analyzes secretary Cleverson Siewert.

It is important to highlight that there will be no other program of this size until December 31, 2026, as provided for in the law approved by the Legislative Assembly and sanctioned by Governor Jorginho Mello.

CASH PAYMENT

Stage 1 (until April 1st – LAST DAY)

• 95% discount on payment until April 1, 2024.

Stage 2 (between April 2nd and 30th)

• 94% discount on payments between April 2, 2024 and April 30, 2024.

Stage 3 (between May 1st and 31st)

• 93% discount on payments between May 1, 2024 and May 31, 2024.

PAYMENT IN INSTALLMENTS*

Minimum value of R$600 per installment

• 90% discount when paying in 12 installments (1st payment until May 31, 2024)
• 80% discount when paying in 24 installments (1st payment until May 31, 2024)
• 70% discount when paying in 36 installments (1st payment until May 31, 2024)
• 60% discount when paying in 48 installments (1st payment until May 31, 2024)
• 50% discount when paying in 60 installments (1st payment until April 30, 2024)
• 40% discount when paying in 72 installments (1st payment until April 1, 2024 – LAST DAY)

*In case of default, the outstanding balance (including fine and interest) is fully restored, deducting only the amount paid in installments
