The NGO Favela Mundo is offering 20 places for a free contemporary photography course in Rio de Janeiro.
Classes will take place on Mondays, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, at CIEP Henfil (Integrated Center for Public Education), in Caju, the port area of the capital.
To participate in the “Favela Hope” project, the interested party must be over 15 years old.
Registration begins next Wednesday (3), and classes run from April 8th to May 27th.
Professor Raphael Pizzino, master in Visual Arts and photography professor at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro), explains that the main expectation is that the lessons allow young people in the community to come into contact with the world of photography.
“Photography serves as a tool for the critical development of perspectives on their worlds, in addition to providing first training for those who aspire to work in the field, as well as being a tool for generating income”, says Pizzino.
