During the month of May, director Lu Bigatão Rios will put into practice the puppet show for riverside children. The project entitled No Caminho das Águas begins in Campo Grande, this Saturday, at 5 pm, at Feira Ziriguidum, and then continues through several cities in Mato Grosso do Sul, always focusing on childhood and the environment.
“We chose the riverside regions, because all the shows, they talk about the environment, they talk about water preservation, they talk about the correct destination of garbage, so the rivers, they are going through a very critical situation. All the rivers in the state and the entire planet, so I think it’s a way to take this message to those who live close to this heritage”, explains the director.
According to Lú, the idea is that children also have access to culture, which does not always happen in these locations.
“Children in these districts and municipalities receive few performances, when we go to the countryside and ask who is seeing a play for the first time, almost half of the audience raises their hands. So it is also a way of decentralizing production and making the theater reach these places further away from the center”, he points out.
In total, Caminho das Águas will take theatrical performances to 14 cities and districts of Mato Grosso do Sul. The locations were chosen because they are bathed by important rivers.

Three puppet shows from the Florescer do Cerrado repertoire will be staged: Navegantes, Piraputanga and Dona Arara Vai Casar.
