The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued two intense rain warnings for Rio Grande do Norte this Monday (1st): one yellow and one orange. Both alerts are valid until 10am this Tuesday (2).
According to the orange alert, which affects 52 cities in RN, there is the possibility of rain of 30 to 60 millimeters per hour, or up to 100 millimeters per day, in addition to intense winds, varying between 60 and 100 km/h.
There is also a risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges.
According to the yellow alert, which affects the other 115 municipalities in the state, there is the possibility of rain between 20 and 30 millimeters per hour, or up to 50 millimeters per day, and intense winds of 40 to 60 km/h.
In case of gusts of wind, the agency advises the population not to take shelter under trees, as there is a risk of falling and electrical discharges. Another recommendation is not to park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs.
If possible, the population should also turn off electrical appliances and the general power supply during the rains, according to Inmet.
