Google’s artificial intelligence (AI), Gemini, has largely arrived in Brazil in Portuguese. Starting this Tuesday (30), Brazilians can enjoy an improved experience, in addition to integrations with popular services such as Gmail, Search and YouTube. With this, Google Assistant will be retired.

The Gemini app in Portuguese is initially available for Android devices. With this update, Brazilian users can interact through text commands, voice or even sending images directly from their mobile devices.

Jules Walter, global product manager for Gemini, highlights the importance of this advancement: “This is an important first step in building a true AI assistant that is conversational, multimodal and useful.”

Integration with virtual assistants

Android users can access Gemini through the Google Assistant. Simply press the power button, swipe from the corner of the screen (on select devices), or simply say “Hey Google” to start a conversation with the AI ​​assistant.

The Google Gemini app can now be downloaded in Brazil.

This integration allows quick and easy access to Gemini functionality, including Assistant voice features such as setting timers, making calls, and controlling smart home devices.

For iOS users, the good news is that Gemini will soon be available directly in the Google app, but no date has been set yet.

New features

Another big new feature are Gemini extensions, which save time when find relevant information from apps like Gmail, Search, Google Flights and YouTube.

For example, you can plan an entire trip in a single conversation with Gemini, which can consider dates from Gmail, search for flight and hotel information, and even find useful videos on YouTube.

Finally, access to Gemini has also been made easier in the Chrome browser. Just type “@gemini” followed by the desired command in the address bar to start a conversation with the AI ​​assistant directly in the browser.

Since becoming an app, Gemini has had more than 500,000 downloads on the Play Store. With Brazil, the app is now present in 73 countries on 5 different continents, available in nine languages ​​(Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Spanish and Portuguese).
