The fourth edition of the Northeast Kart Championship ended last Saturday (30), at the Ayrton Senna Kartódromo, on the banks of Ipitanga beach, in Lauro de Freitas, in the Costa dos Coqueiros tourist area. In three days of competition, the facilities at the Bahia Sports Arena, in the municipality, served as support for the teams’ preparation.

Sixty pilots participated, in seven categories, representing six northeastern states and four invited states from other regions. They divided their time between the track and trips around the Metropolitan Region of Salvador (RMS), accompanied by family. The event, promoted by the Bahian Kart Association (ABK), attracted around a thousand people and had the support of the State Government, through the Secretariat of Tourism (Setur-BA) and the Superintendency of Sports (Sudesb), an agency of the Secretariat of Work, Employment, Income and Sport (Setre).

“Thanks to the support of the State we were able to bring an official karting event to Bahia, after 15 years. Anyone arriving from abroad immediately feels the special energy of the Bahians. The competitors had moments to enjoy the beaches and restaurants in the region with their families”, explained the president of ABK, Alexandre Rosário.

“I love the coast of Bahia, where I am for the third time. I took the opportunity to take another trip around the beautiful Baía de Todos-os-Santos”, reported pilot Giovano Cavalheiro, 39 years old, from Tocantins. “I made my debut on the Lauro de Freitas track. Racing a kart in front of the sea was, without a doubt, a different attraction”, added driver Vinicius Corbo, 40 years old, from São Paulo.
