The UFC arrives in Rio de Janeiro this week for UFC 301: PANTOJA x ERCEG, which takes place on May 4th, at FARMASI ARENA, in Barra da Tijuca. To celebrate the organization’s return to the city, the UFC prepared a special schedule of activities.
On Thursday (2), the Summer Stand tônoRio da Setur-RJ, on Copacabana Beach, where the giant UFC letters are displayed, welcomes UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Poatan, the former heavyweight champion take Charles from the Bronxs and former PRIDE FC middleweight champion and future UFC Hall of Famer Wanderlei Silva. From 6pm to 7pm, fans who visit the stand will be able to take photos with Poatan, Charles and Wanderlei, as well as see the UFC belt up close. Entry is free.
On Friday (3), the traditional Ceremonial Weighing takes place, when all the athletes who will fight on the card step on the scale in front of the public and do their last look before the fight on Saturday. At the Fan Experience set up at FARMASI ARENA, fans will be able to take photos with the UFC belt, purchase official items at the UFC Store and participate in a photo session with UFC Flyweight Champion Alexa Grasso, the former welterweight champion UFC heavyweights Mauricio Shogun and Wanderlei Silva. Before the weigh-in, a question and answer session with guest athletes will also take place on stage, in which fans will be able to interact with Poatan, Charles, Alexa, UFC welterweight athlete (#6) Gilbert Durinho and welterweight athlete UFC featherweight (#14) Diego Lopes.
To secure tickets for the Weigh-in, simply donate one kilo of non-perishable food at one of the exchange points listed on the UFC website. Pesagem’s social action will benefit more than 10 social projects that serve more than 10,000 people in Rio de Janeiro.
On Saturday (4), the UFC Octagon arrives at FARMASI ARENA for UFC 301: PANTOJA x ERCEG. The event will feature 15 electrifying fights, highlighted by champion Alexandre Pantoja defending the flyweight belt in the main fight and the return of the King of Rio, José Aldo. Before the action in the Octagon, fans will also have access to the Fan Experience as well as the Weigh-in, which features new activations, such as the VR Experience, in which fans will be able to feel what it’s like when an athlete enters the Octagon, as well as sessions autograph session with Poatan, Charles and Durinho.
