Regional Electoral Court of Alagoas launched a reporting channel for cases of misinformation – Photo: Disclosure
The Center for Combating Disinformation of the Regional Electoral Court of Alagoas (TRE/AL) launched, this Monday (01), a specific channel for complaints regarding cases of electoral disinformation. Through messages on the Whatsapp application, people from Alagoas will be able to send photos, videos and social media content to the number (82) 99662-7491.
“With the new tool, we hope to facilitate the reporting process and encourage voters to inform the TRE whenever they come across false news regarding the voting process and the Electoral Court”, explained electoral judge Milton Ferreira Netto, coordinator of the Center of TRE Disinformation.
After receiving the complaint, the Center is responsible for verifying the veracity of the facts and, if it is proven that it is false news, the material is forwarded to the Public Electoral Ministry, which will determine whether an investigation will be opened to identify those responsible for the content disclosed. .
The Alagoas TRE Counteracting Disinformation Center is made up of members of the Electoral Court and external bodies, such as the Federal, Civil and Military Police, the Regional Electoral Attorney’s Office, the Brazilian Bar Association and the Journalists’ Union.
