The Government of Minas, through the State Secretariat for Infrastructure, Mobility and Partnerships (Seinfra) and the Department of Highways of Minas Gerais (DER-MG), carry out, this Monday (29/4), the operation Ponto Final, to investigate irregularities in the operation of intercity lines from the company Gardênia that serve municipalities in the south of Minas.

In the capital, the inspection action was carried out at the Belo Horizonte Bus Terminal, at 6 am, and in the company’s garage.

Three vehicles leaving the capital in the morning towards cities in the south of Minas were withdrawn from circulation due to mechanical problems and documentation irregularities. The company was fined for these reasons, in addition to non-compliance with travel, as six vehicles did not show up at Tergip to start their routes at the scheduled times.

This afternoon, another group of inspectors worked at the Pouso Alegre bus station, from 12pm. Eight vehicles were inspected and fined, four of which were removed from circulation. Non-compliance with line schedules was also identified.

“At the end of the operation, administrative proceedings will be opened so that the fined companies are punished. Vehicles removed from circulation will only be able to return to service after a new inspection. Users can rest assured that they will not be harmed. The trips are being carried out by buses from other companies that meet the required safety standards”, says the Undersecretary of Transport and Mobility, Aaron Duarte Dalla.

Operation Ponto Final was motivated by the number of irregularities found in another inspection action carried out on the 10th, 11th and 12/4, in vehicles operated by the same company. Furthermore, the operation aims to investigate the large number of complaints registered by passengers, including travel delays and poor maintenance of buses.

The inspection operation carried out in the cities of Passos, Cássia and Poços de Caldas, at the beginning of the month, resulted in 12 vehicles being fined for problems found in comfort and safety items, and also for non-compliance with timetables.
