Rio Grande do Sul recorded a positive balance of 25,452 formal vacancies in February, resulting in 155.3 thousand admissions and 129.8 thousand dismissals. The numbers are in line with the positive performance of employment throughout Brazil, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Novo Caged), released on Wednesday (27) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

:: Brazil creates 306 thousand jobs in February and exceeds expectations even from the government itself ::

Since the beginning of the year, the positive balance is 45.7 thousand new formal jobs. The state has a stock of over 2.8 million employed people, according to figures from Novo Caged. In February, the result was positive in four of the five major groups of economic activity evaluated.

The highlight in Rio Grande do Sul was the Industry area, which ended the month with a balance of 13,031 thousand vacancies. The manufacturing industry alone opened 12,900 jobs. The Services sector had a positive balance of 7,671 new jobs. Next come Agriculture (+4,653) and Construction (+871). The only sector that showed a decline in the number of formal vacancies was Commerce (-774).

In the division by municipalities, Santa Cruz do Sul had the highest balance of the period. There were 4,265 new jobs with a formal contract, which brought the stock in the city of Rio Grande do Sul to a total of 48 thousand employed people. Following the five municipalities with the highest balance are Vacaria (+4,168), Caxias do Sul (+2,847), Porto Alegre (+2,148) and Venâncio Aires (+1,595).

In the state, the majority of new jobs were occupied by men (+13,906). People with complete secondary education were the main ones served (+7,171) with vacancies in Rio Grande do Sul. Young people between 18 and 24 years old are also the group with the highest balance of vacancies, which increased by 7,762.

Expansion of the formal market across the country

Brazil registered a strong expansion of the formal job market in February, when compared to January. In the second month of the year, 306,111 jobs were created with a formal contract. With the numbers recorded in January and February, Brazil accumulates almost half a million new formal job vacancies and reaches a balance of 474,614 jobs created.

The February result is the result of the difference between the total of 2.24 million people admitted and 1.94 million dismissals across the country. In relation to the total number of employed people in the country, Brazil has almost 46 million formal jobs, an increase of 1.04% compared to February last year.

In the month, all five major groups of economic activities recorded positive numbers. Highlight for the Services sector, which accounted for the creation of 193 thousand jobs. Next come Industry (+54.4 thousand), Construction (+35 thousand), Commerce (+19.7 thousand) and Agriculture (+3.7 thousand).

São Paulo is the state with the most formal jobs created in February. The state registered 101,163 new jobs with a formal contract, with emphasis on the Services sector, which opened 67,750 vacancies. Minas Gerais, with 35.9 thousand, and Paraná, with 33 thousand, complete the trio of states with the highest balance in the month. February was a month with a drop for the states of Paraíba (-9), Maranhão (-1.2 thousand) and Alagoas (-2.8 thousand).
