In the sights of Europeans, Pablo Maia is inspired by Casemiro to succeed on the Old Continent – Gazeta Esportiva

Pablo Maia is seen as the likely next big sale for São Paulo. The midfielder, who recently joined the Brazilian team, is an absolute starter for Tricolor and has another player revealed by the club, Casemiro, as an inspiration to follow a successful path also on the Old Continent.

“I was always inspired by Casemiro. Because of the history he has, because of the professional he is. A guy who left the São Paulo base, had his story here, went abroad and is following his story. I think I look up to him a lot”, said Pablo Maia in an interview with SPFC Play.

In recent years, Pablo Maia has been in the sights of English clubs, such as Fulham. São Paulo, however, preferred to keep him in their squad, prioritizing a sporting return, which ended up being achieved with the unprecedented Copa do Brasil title. In the current season, Tricolor won the Supercopa Rei, also with the young midfielder on the field.

Having Casemiro as inspiration is natural. In addition to being one of the best midfielders in the world, winning two World Cups, the player also left Cotia before becoming one of the legends of Real Madrid and, later, moving to Manchester United, another European giant.

“Cotia is my second home, for all the years I lived there. Thank God, I was able to make the most of the structure and professionals there. It was definitely very important for my career. As we always talked about, my family and I, the opportunity had arisen and many kids wanted to be there in my place. If I have this opportunity, I can’t let it pass. So, every day I tried to be better, to give my best, to make it all worth it”, he continued.

Following a path similar to Casemiro’s seemed like a distant dream for Pablo Maia until recently. Today no more. An absolute starter for São Paulo and having already played two games for the Brazilian national team, the midfielder has plenty of reasons to hope for a bright future.

After the friendlies for the Seleção against England, at Wembley, and Spain, at the Santiago Bernabéu, Pablo Maia is expected to return to the field for São Paulo next Thursday, when the team debuts in the Copa Libertadores against Talleres, in Córdoba, Argentina. . After the unprecedented titles of the Copa do Brasil and Supercopa Rei, the midfielder now aims to lift the trophy in the most important tournament in South America.
