Child dies after being run over by school transport in western Bahia
Wesley Reinan Ferreira Xavier He was run over in the village of Pedrinhas, which is in the rural area, about 54 km from the city’s headquarters.
The police did not detail the circumstances of the collision, but reported that the bus driver gave a statement at the police station and was released. The case is investigated.

“The Municipality of Muquém do São Francisco deeply regrets the early death of the child Wesley Reinan Ferreira Xavier, resident in the community of Pedrinhas. Our sincere condolences to his family,” he wrote.
Wesley’s body was taken to Ibotirama, about 47 km from Muquém de São Francisco. The wake takes place this Tuesday, at the boy’s grandmother’s house, in the Ibotiraminha neighborhood. The burial is scheduled for 4pm, at the city’s municipal cemetery.
Weeks earlier, Thaylla Lorena da Cruz dos Santos, aged 6, died after being run over by a school bus in the city of Barra, also in the west of the state.
The accident occurred on the city’s main avenue, a point where children are usually placed in the care of their parents.
According to TV Oeste, a TV Bahia affiliate in the region, the delegate in charge of the case said that Thaylla was taken to her mother by the transport monitor. The collision occurred later, with the child found in the bottom of the vehicle.
According to municipal management, the bus involved in the incident is in good condition, with all authorizations for circulation up to date, and the driver is duly qualified, with more than 15 years of experience in the role.
The case took place on a side road in the Fazenda Correia region, in front of the house where the victim lives, and the vehicle that transported the vehicle belongs to the city hall.
