The State Secretariat for Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Sedics) took videos and products from cooperatives in Alagoas and companies that received incentives from the State Government, through the State Integrated Development Program (Prodesin), to the annual meeting of the Pan-American Commission on Technical Standards (Copant) 2024.
The official opening of Copant Week was held this Monday (29), at the Hotel Jatiúca, with the presence of governor Paulo Dantas and representatives from 40 countries that are part of Copant.
In the space, the departments of Development, Tourism (Setur) and International Relations (Serfi) set up a showcase of Alagoas, presenting what the State has to offer to investors. The exhibition will be available throughout the program, which continues until May 1st.
For secretary Alice Beltrão, the event is an excellent opportunity to present the economic scenario, investments and attractions of the state.
“It is an honor to host such an important, international event, whose main theme is climate change and sustainability. We have spontaneous media to present the full potential of our state. Alagoas is ready to receive investments from the most varied sectors”, he assesses.
The secretary highlights that the State Government continues working to implement public policies that lead Alagoas to sustainable economic development. “Our state already has 87% of its energy matrix coming from renewable energy. We are carrying out a survey on energy production and we are increasingly investing in this sector. In addition, Sedics has the Development and Sustainability Superintendence, which monitors Impact Businesses and participates in discussions about sustainable economy”, she adds.
Another highlight is the work of cooperatives, which feeds more than 300 thousand people from Alagoas, in addition to promoting the generation of direct and indirect jobs for around 200 thousand people through more than 240 cooperatives spread throughout the state. “Cooperativism has come to be recognized as a vitally important vector of economic and social development”, highlights Alice.
During the opening ceremony, Governor Paulo Dantas emphasized the significance of the meeting for the state, highlighting that it allows the state to become even more “efficient, purposeful and decisive”, especially when it comes to the adoption of innovative technical standards.
The event, which is considered the largest technical standardization event in the Americas, also includes the creation of a Copant park in Marechal Deodoro, where each representative of the participating countries was invited to plant a tree to reinforce the event’s proposal to discuss the sustainability and the environment.
