Transmission auction foresees investments of R$3.5 billion in Minas Gerais by 2030

The transmission auction by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), held on Thursday (28), at the São Paulo Stock Exchange, had all lots sold and could represent investments of around R$3.5 billion in transmission lines that pass through Minas Gerais by 2030.

According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, the construction of 1,096 kilometers of new lines and a substation is planned, which should generate around 7,000 jobs during the construction of the projects.

Investments in this new auction are add to the other R$9 billion announced in the first auction in Minas Geraisin June last year, totaling R$12.5 billion in investments in the state.

“We are working to transform the electricity sector into economic and social development, ensuring more energy security and opportunities for our population. We are strengthening our system to channel all the renewable energy generated in our country, mainly in the North and Northeast of Minas Gerais, where the sun that punished our people so much has become an inducer of development. The works will bring jobs, income and more hope to the people of Minas Gerais”, stated Minister Alexandre Silveira, from the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Work is scheduled to begin in 2027, with the construction of new lines between São João do Paraíso and Padre Paraíso; Padre Paraíso à Mutum; Jussiape, in Bahía, in São João do Paraíso; São João do Paraíso à Capelinha; and Capelinha à Itabira; in addition to a substation in São João do Paraíso.
