The City of Rio de Janeiro, through the Secretariat for Solidarity Economic Development, took a significant step towards strengthening solidarity economy enterprises in the city by launching, this Thursday (28), the Compre.Rio sales platform.

The innovative initiative will allow entrepreneurs in the sector the opportunity to sell products in an easy and accessible way on the internet, without paying fees. The technical cooperation agreement that makes the platform viable was signed this Thursday, at the Palácio da Cidade, with the participation of the mayor of Rio, Eduardo Paes, and the secretary of Solidarity Economic Development, Diego Zeidan.

According to Eduardo Paes, this will help entrepreneurs sell their products, without being subject to the fees charged by the platforms, as the mayor explains.

“The businesspeople said, no. We are going to use the technology we have and we are going to do this intermediation, because otherwise, how are we going to gain anything? How will the capitalist hold back? And nobody here has anything against capitalists, no. Not even against businessman Making money, having your participation. But, if you can do this without charging a fee, which is a wealth accumulator fee and this fee can be distributed to those who are producing, to those who are buying”, It is much better, said Paes.

“Compre.Rio is a platform that brings small producers closer to consumers in general. It generates more income, more sales for the small business owner, increasing the revenue from each business and the trader’s quality of life. It gives more business and sales opportunities. The entrepreneur registers on the website, uploads the products to sell and finds the consumer” said Diego Zeidan.

To carry out the project, a technical cooperation agreement was signed between the City of Rio, through the Secretariat for Solidarity Economic Development, and the Maricá Development Company (Codemar).

Furthermore, Correios will be partners in the distribution of the platform’s products, facilitating consumer access to the products offered.
