The story of the Queen of Heights

Born on May 27, 1946, in the municipality of Amparo do São Francisco, Maria Feliciana is the daughter of Antônio Tintino da Silva, who was 2.40m tall, and Maria Rodrigues dos Santos, who was 1.80m tall.

Until she was 16 years old, her growth was considered normal, but after that she began to stand out for her height, measuring 2.25m when she turned just 23 years old. She married Assuires José dos Santos and had three children: Charles Santos and Cleverton Santos, both 2.10m tall, and daughter Chirles Santos, 1.60m tall.

Throughout his career, he received several honors due to his height. One of them was recognition through the title of ‘Queen of Height’, on the famous program ‘A Hora da Buzina’, on Chacrinha, when the Sergipe native was considered the tallest woman in the country at 18 years of age. For many years, the Sergipe native was also considered the tallest woman in the world.

The fact is that the peculiar size earned great tributes to the ‘Queen of Heights’. The tallest building in Sergipe and the headquarters of Banese, the Edifício Estado de Sergipe, is one of the ways to immortalize it. The building is popularly known as the Maria Feliciana Building.

Furthermore, in 2022, Museus da Gente Sergipana paid tribute to Maria Feliciana with a life-size statue, measuring 2.25m, the same height as the person being honored.
