The volume of rain was 22 millimeters, a little more than half of the 39.2 millimeters expected for the month of March, according to the meteorologist from the State Foundation for the Environment and Water Resources (Femarh), Ramón Alves, who monitors the situation.

Rain was recorded throughout the capital from 3:30 am and continued until the morning. The last time it rained was on February 16th.

Even with the rain, Boa Vista remains covered in the haze of polluted smoke. The smoke recorded in the city is brought, in part, by forest fires in the Serra da Lua and Serra da Barauana regions, in the municipality of Cantá, in addition to Caracaraí and Rorainópolis, and from Guiana, on the northern border of the state.

According to Ramón, Roraima’s rainy season is expected to start in April. The forecast is that precipitation will begin in the South region and gradually increase until it reaches the North region. The forecast for the entire month of April is that it will rain 180 millimeters.

“These initial rains of the rainy season give us a lot of relief in relation to hot spots and fires. Now, over time, river levels tend to normalize during the rainy season, which starts now in April. So, the trend is normalize”, explained the meteorologist.
