Tinder, the dating app, has just launched a tool that will increase user security when going out with a suitor and can help prevent crimes, such as the “love scam”, where people are deceived based on conversations on virtual dating platforms.

The “Share My Date” function, which is already available to some people, including Brazilians, allows you to share with friends and family who and where the meeting will be.

The notice is generated by the application itself and information about location, date, time and even a photo of the other person can be sent via a link.

The company argues that the feature serves to improve the experience of those who use the platform, as “more than half of singles (51%) under 30 share the details of their encounters with friends”, according to a survey carried out on the company itself. Tinder.

➡️In the conversation with the person you arranged the meeting with, go to the three dots at the top of the screen and see if the “Share My Date” option appears.

➡️Select this option and fill in the fields “who”, “when”, “time” and “where” with the meeting information. Tip: add more details in the “observations” tab, such as if it’s your first date or if you plan to do something later.

➡️After completing, choose who you want to share this data with.

➡️The chosen contact will receive a notice with all the information about your date.

Protection against “love scam”

The scams happen like this: criminals use dating apps to deceive victims, posing as someone else, to take them on fake dates.

With “Share My Date”, users can book as many dates as they want, up to 30 days in advance. And if plans change at short notice, you can update the information in the app, and the link to the friend will also change.

The function is being implemented little by little, but in the coming months it should be available to all users in Brazil and other countries, such as the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, Spain.
