The number of judicial recovery (RJ) grew in March this year. 183 requests were registered by Brazilian companies. The number represents a growth of 94.7% compared to the same period in 2023, according to data released by the Serasa Experian.
The analysis, which is part of Serasa Experian’s Bankruptcy and Judicial Recovery Indicator, also shows that this was the highest number in 2024. According to economist Luiz Rabi, the drop in RJ requests should occur from the second half of the year.

“The increase in requests for judicial recovery is a reflection of the growth of companies that found themselves facing imminent insolvency”, analyzed Luiz Rabi.
The expert highlighted that it is first necessary to have “a reduction in defaults and then we will see a drop in the number of requests for judicial recovery.”
Records by sector
The survey data also showed that the services sector led the number of requests for judicial recovery in March, with 71 requests submitted.
Afterwards, it appears in second place in the ranking comes the commerce segment, with 48 requests. In third place is the industry sector, with 33 requests. Next is the area of primary products, with 31 cases of judicial recovery.
Second month of increase in requests for judicial recovery
February was also a month with growth in the number of judicial recovery cases in the country, with 169 requests registered. The value represents a increase of 64.1% compared to the same period in 2023, according to Serasa Experian.
Micro and small companies were the ones that most registered the legal request. According to the survey, there were 59 requests. Medium and large companies filed 35 and nine requests, respectively.
