General Delegate of the Civil Police of Santa Catarina receives medal from the 5th Division of the Brazilian Army

The General Delegate of the Civil Police of Santa Catarina was awarded the Medal of Friend of the 5th Division of the Brazilian Army, in a special ceremony led by General Trindade, commander of the 14th Motorized Infantry Brigade. Jornal da Guarujá had the opportunity to speak with General Delegate Ulisses Gabriel about this recognition and the importance of the partnership between security institutions.

Ulisses Gabriel shared that the invitation to receive the medal came after General Vendramin, responsible for the 5th Division of the Brazilian Army, contacted him a week ago. In his words: “In fact, General Vendramin, who is responsible for the 5th Division of the Brazilian Army, which corresponds to Paraná and Santa Catarina, made contact with me a week ago, saying that he would be very grateful if I was at the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the 5th Army Division, in Curitiba, where the Civil Police and I would be awarded this medal, due to the partnership that the Civil Police of Santa Catarina has with the Brazilian Army, especially in Santa Catarina, with the 14th Infantry Brigade led by General Trindade.”

The recognition is due to the partnership between the Civil Police of Santa Catarina and the Brazilian Army, especially with the 14th Infantry Brigade led by General Trindade. Ulisses Gabriel emphasized: “And given this circumstance, this partnership we have and a fact that caught our attention, because an incident occurred with an Army truck in Blumenau and criminals ended up stealing rifles from that truck. And, given this circumstance, the criminals ended up being identified by the Civil Police of Santa Catarina and the rifles were recovered. So they ended up being very grateful due to this action by the Santa Catarina Civil Police and made this recognition.”

In addition to the General Delegate, other authorities were honored during the event in Curitiba, including the General Commander of the Military Police of Santa Catarina, Colonel Pelozato and the General Commander Colonel Fabiano Bastos of the Fire Department, also from Santa Catarina.

Regarding the importance of this partnership for public security, Ulisses Gabriel emphasized: “The Army has important support in issues involving humanitarian aid and Santa Catarina ended up needing it very much in these situations involving the natural disasters we had here, especially in the Itajaí Valley, in Operation So this is a necessary partnership, an exchange of important information.”

The General Delegate also highlighted that, under the leadership of the current government, the Security Forces have worked in harmony, which has contributed to reducing crime rates in Santa Catarina. In his words: “Yes, it has been 15 months of the Jorginho government, where the Security Forces have worked very harmoniously and this has meant that we are able to produce more and reduce crime rates.”

Finally, Ulisses Gabriel shared that cooperation between institutions is not limited to diplomatic conversations, but is manifested in joint operations, such as a recent operation in Tubarão that resulted in the arrest of criminals involved with factions. He stated: “We have been constantly working together in operations, for example, a major operation took place, an integration between the Civil Police and the Military Police, so this does not only happen in conversations, but also in the work of executing public security in Santa Catarina.”
