Anyone planning to relax and swim in the sea during the Holy Week weekend in Pernambuco should pay close attention.

According to research by the State Environment Agency (CPRH), Pernambuco has eight beaches with sections unsuitable for swimming.

There are also 19 beaches with sections considered suitable for swimming.

The research was carried out in 27 areas of the coast and is valid until April 4th.

The collection of material for analysis was carried out on Monday (25).

According to the agency, the objective of the analysis is to determine whether the waters are in good condition for leisure.

Through collection, it is possible to identify the amount of impurities that could make areas unsuitable for bathing.

Analysis

The classification of beaches is based on the provisions of CONAMA Resolution No. 274/00, which defines seawater quality standards.

According to the CPRH, bathing ability is the set of factors that define the quality of water for primary contact recreation purposes, that is, direct and prolonged contact, where there is the possibility of ingesting considerable quantities of water.

Recommendation

The water sampling process is carried out weekly, the CPRH also recommends that swimming in the sea be avoided in any of the circumstances below:

There is a relatively high or abnormal incidence of waterborne diseases;

Accusing regular intermittent or sporadic receipt of sewage through ditches, bodies of water or pipes, including rainwater galleries;

Indicate the presence of waste or waste, solid or liquid, including oils, grease and other substances capable of posing health risks or making recreation unpleasant;

Blooming of algae or other organisms, until it is proven that they do not pose a health risk;

In the weeks that are classified as inappropriate; Its use within 24 hours following the occurrence of rain, due to the greater risk of diseases;

Other factors that temporarily or permanently contraindicate primary contact recreation exercise.
