After seven seasons, coach Paulo Coco will leave the technical command of Praia Clube for the 2024/25 season. The information was confirmed by the coach himself, this Friday, to reporter Gleudo Fonseca, from TV Integração. The commander accepted an offer from League One Volleyball (LOV), in the United States, where he will lead Atlanta for two years.

To the journalist, the coach said that he received the invitation before the quarter-finals of the Women’s Superliga and informed Praia Clube before facing Sesc-Flamengo, in the semi-final.

Praia Clube, according to the coach, had the intention of renewing, but negotiations did not progress. Right after the final against Minas, he spent the day talking to his wife, and decided to accept the proposal to go to the United States.

On Monday, one day after the defeat in the Superliga decision, he met with the Praia Clube board and it was decided, after a meeting with the Sports Manager at Praia Clube, André Lellis, and the volleyball supervisor, Bruno Vilela , that he would leave the club.

Paulo Coco stated that it was a difficult decision because he had had very good years in Uberlândia, both for him and for Praia Clube, and for having won titles that were missing for him and the Minas Gerais team.

He said he will take on a new challenge, a great opportunity, a new market that is opening up, a league that has the potential to grow and with great athletes.

Assistant to José Roberto Guimarães on the Brazilian women’s team, Paulo Coco took charge of the Minas Gerais club in the 2017/18 season, when he arrived to replace Ricardo Picinin.

Paulo Coco led Praia Clube to the two main titles in the club’s history: winning the Women’s Volleyball Super League in the 2017/18 and 2022/23 seasons. The coach also won three Mineiros championships for the Uberlândia team (2019, 2021 and 2023), two South American championships (2021 and 2023), four Super Cups (2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021) and one Copa Brasil (2024).
