The Public Ministry of the State of Alagoas (MPAL), through the Lagoa da Canoa Public Prosecutor’s Office, represented by prosecutor Lucas Schitini de Souza, began on Wednesday, 27th, a preparatory procedure to investigate possible irregularities in the public competition held to fill positions in the Municipality.

Among the issues raised, suspicions of fraud in the selection process stand out, with possible favors given to relatives and people linked to the management of the mayor of Lagoa da Canoa, Tainá Veiga, calling into question the fairness and credibility of the contest.

There is also mention of alleged exchanges of favors between municipal managers of Lagoa da Canoa and Feira Grande, aiming to benefit individuals close to the managers in a cross-purpose manner. The Public Ministry emphasizes that public competitions must be governed by administrative principles that guarantee legality, morality, impersonality, efficiency, publicity and equality, aiming to select the most qualified candidates in a fair and objective manner.

In view of possible irregularities, the ministerial body decided to initiate the preparatory procedure, taking several measures, including requesting information from the Bahia Institute, responsible for organizing the competition, and from the public manager of the Municipality of Lagoa da Canoa. Both have a period of 10 days to provide clarifications and provide supporting documentation.

The contest – Registration for the competition was until January 17th and the objective tests were carried out on February 25th. The competition offered 91 vacancies for positions at all levels of education. Salaries range from R$1,320 to R$3,867.98.
