In a solidarity initiative involving the community and the state, the Post offices in Acre are mobilized to receive donations for victims of the floods that devastated several areas of the state, directly affecting more than 100 thousand people. The campaign, which runs until April 21st, is not only a gesture of solidarity, but also an important action to support and rebuild the affected areas.

How You Can Help

Contributing is simple: any interested individual can go to the nearest post office to make a donation. The most needed items include: non-perishable food, personal hygiene products and clothing in good condition. It is important to note that the Brasiléia agency will not be receiving donations due to damage caused by the floods, and is currently undergoing maintenance.

A Hard Hit Area

The impact of the floods was devastating. About 28,952 people were forced to leave their homes, seeking refuge while the waters did not recede. Of the state’s 22 cities, 19 declared an emergency. The city of Brasiléia, one of the most affected, saw the Acre River overflow, causing significant damage and the displacement of entire families.

Why Are Donations Crucial Right Now?

In addition to donations from the population, an interesting aspect of this campaign is that the Post Office will contribute by donating unclaimed items, such as toys and household items, which were forgotten at the branches. Such items, after exhaustive delivery or return attempts, and without senders or recipients being located, become eligible for donation after 90 days, as stipulated in the Consumer Protection Code.

How does this Initiative Benefit the Community?

The president of Correios, Fabiano Silva dos Santos, highlights the importance of the company as one of the largest logistics operators in the country. This campaign reinforces the role of Correios not only in its primary function of delivering correspondence and packages but also as an essential organization to promote citizenship and social support throughout Brazil, especially in times of crisis.

What you can donate:

  • Non-perishable food
    • Personal hygiene products

By participating in this donation campaign, you will be directly contributing to the well-being of thousands of affected families, helping them rebuild their lives after this catastrophe. Solidarity can play a fundamental role in the recovery of these communities, showing that, even in the most challenging times, it is possible to count on mutual help.
