The government of Acre, through the Department of Health (Sesacre), began this Wednesday, 27th, the redistribution of vaccines against dengue to the other municipalities in the state. The measure was taken after the Ministry of Health (MS) collected the surplus stock from the states and began redistributing it to those that had not yet been served.
According to the coordinator of the National Immunization Program (PNI) in Acre, Renata Quiles, “vaccination adherence was low, so it is necessary to expand vaccination throughout the state, to reach as many teenagers as possible.”
The Secretary of Health, Pedro Pascoal, explained: “We took a surplus stock from the Municipality of Rio Branco and are distributing it to other municipalities. We have already supplied Juruá and on Monday, the 1st, Alto Acre will receive the doses. This redistribution aims to ensure that doses are not wasted and that we can vaccinate more people.”
The MS announced the redistribution of doses of dengue vaccine, which expires in April. In total, 668 thousand doses with this validity were distributed at the beginning of the vaccination calendar and part of them have already been applied.
The planning, which will be detailed in a technical note, foresees that states will redistribute doses that are about to expire to their municipalities, with autonomy to choose the locations.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health informed that it will receive another 930 thousand new doses purchased, ensuring the continuity of vaccination in places that already have the calendar in progress and expanding the application in another 154 municipalities. The doses should start arriving next week, to begin application.
