The Regulatory Agency for Delegated and Contracted Public Services of Amazonas (Arsepam) launches, this Thursday (28), Operation Safe Travel – Holy Week, at the main exits of Manaus. The action continues until March 31st, Easter Sunday, with the intensification of inspections of intercity road and waterway transport services.

In total, 25,565 passengers must leave the capital to access other municipalities in Amazonas, using transport regulated by the municipality. According to calculations by the agency’s technical departments, approximately 1,593 inspections will be carried out during the period.

Arsepam’s CEO, Ricardo Lasmar, explains that the authority has a schedule of actions to be carried out throughout the year. Operation Safe Travel is carried out on long holidays due to the greater flow of passengers, aiming to ensure greater safety for road and waterway users.

The manager highlights that during the four days of operation, Arsepam will have a mobile team to monitor possible occurrences and complaints in other locations. It will also have the support of the Traffic Police Battalion (BPTran) of the Amazonas Military Police (PMAM) and the State Superintendency of Navigation, Ports and Waterways (SNPH).

Bus

According to a survey by Arsepam’s Department of Road Transport (DETR), 11,565 passengers must leave Manaus using this mode to reach cities in the interior of the state.

Regulatory Agency inspectors must carry out 1,193 inspections in regular (travel between bus terminals), semi-urban (Manaus-Iranduba-Iranduba-Manaus), occasional charter (without periodicity, with a specific or tourist purpose) and continuous (companies that execute fixed routes) modalities contracted by legal entities).

The road inspections will take place at the Engenheiro Huascar Angelim Bus Terminal – Manaus Bus Station, Flores neighborhood, central-south zone; State Inspection Barrier (AM-010 and BR-174), Santa Etelvina neighborhood, north zone; Avenida das Flores barrier, Lago Azul neighborhood (entrance to Viver Melhor 1), north zone; after the Ponte Jornalista Phelippe Daou (Ponte Rio Negro), in Iranduba; and at the Itacoatiara Bus Terminal.

Waterway

The municipality’s Department of Water Transport (DETH) projects that 14 thousand users will opt for fast boats, ferries, motor ships and motor boats to leave the capital of Amazonas.

In this modality, inspectors must carry out 400 inspections over the four days of action. The work will take place at the Port of Manaus, also serving the Manaus Moderna ferries, in the center of the capital; and in Porto da Ceasa.

Reporting channels

To report and resolve doubts, the Arsepam Ombudsman provides 24-hour support via WhatsApp (92) 2020-1117; and from Monday to Friday, from 8am to 2pm, on 0800 280 8585.

The agency serves, in person, on the premises of the Engenheiro Huascar Angelim Bus Terminal (Manaus Bus Station), Flores neighborhood, central-south zone; online, through the Ombudsman System (Fala.BR) and institutional email [email protected].
