Members of a criminal group are arrested for torture, murder and hiding a corpse, in Manaus | Amazon

Two members of a criminal group were arrested for torture, murder and hiding a corpse, in the Compensa neighborhood, in the West Zone of Manaus. The operation began on Monday (25) with the arrest of a suspect and, this Tuesday (26), it unfolded with the arrest of another member of the group.

According to delegate Fábio Aly, head of the 8th Integrated Police District, the arrests are the result of investigations that began in 2023, when the disappearance of Anderson Augusto Pacaio de Azevedo was reported. He disappeared on the night of October 19th of that year.

“The incident was registered as a disappearance, however we found signs that the victim could have been executed. So, we began investigations to identify those involved. And, among them, is Jackson, who took the victim to an area known as “Favelinha da Compensa” at the behest of his father, who would be Pedro Wask Teixeira, known as “Belo”, detailed the delegate.

According to him, “Belo” is a highly dangerous individual involved in drug trafficking and has several outstanding arrest warrants. Anderson was taken to that location to be interrogated, as the offenders believed that he had stolen the drugs from a drug dealer from the same criminal group.

“They planned to make the victim confess and hand over whoever had allegedly stolen the drugs. Based on this, the individuals tortured Anderson Augusto excessively and caused his death. Later, they dismembered him and disposed of his body in the Rio Negro,” he said.

Six other members of the criminal group, which would be a type of criminal court, are also being sought for torture, murder and hiding Anderson’s corpse.

The suspects will be charged with qualified homicide by using torture, hiding a corpse and forming a militia and will be available to the courts.
