The 16th edition of Pesca & Companhia Trade Show, recognized as the largest fair in the segment in Latin America, opened its doors on Thursday (21), at Pro Magno Centro de Eventos, in São Paulo, highlighting Bahia’s fishing potential as a of its main attractions. At the stand of the Secretariat of Tourism of Bahia (Setur-BA), visitors were able to discover the main sport fishing destinations in the state, with special emphasis on Canavieiras, in the Costa do Cacau tourist area, which is among the three largest fishing spots of blue marlin in the world, a fish highly valued in the activity. The municipality also hosts competitions that attract fishermen from all over Brazil and abroad.
“This is the first time we have had the participation of the Bahian government. I’ve had the opportunity to fish in Canavieiras several times. The sea of Bahia is, without a doubt, one of the main attractions of Brazilian fishing to the world”, highlighted Marcelo Claro, organizer of the fair.
The event was held until Saturday (23), featuring more than 100 exhibitors, forums and equipment sales. The event brought together around 25 thousand people and generated approximately R$400 million in business.
“In an unprecedented way, we participated in this great event to publicize that oceanic and mangrove sport fishing tourism, offered by Bahia, is ready to receive a greater number of visitors, demonstrating once again the diversity of the state’s tourist offer”, he highlighted the director of Qualification and Tourism Segments at Setur-BA, Celso Duarte.
Travel agent from São Paulo, Bruno César Artuso expressed interest in selling tours to the Cocoa Coast, “We represent 80 destinations in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. We want to operate in the Northeast, especially in Bahia, which has an affinity with fishing tourism, due to its extensive and stunning coastline, as well as other attractions that the region offers,” he stated.
“I had the pleasure of fishing in Bahia, a truly sensational place. We, sport fishermen, love the sea bass and peacock bass, which are abundant in the region of Canavieiras, a charming city”, reported Pedro Deconto, a fisherman from Paraná.
