247 – The Chamber of Deputies excluded from its media platforms the videos and audio recordings of the participation of digital influencer Felipe Neto in the symposium “Regulation of Digital Platforms and the urgency of an agenda”.

Felipe Neto’s talk went viral when the influencer referred to the president of the House, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), as “excremental”, a term that led to a legal dispute on the part of the parliamentarian.

The symposium was held on Tuesday afternoon (23), and the debates mostly dealt with PL 2630/2020, known as the “Fake News PL”, approved in the Senate and discussed in the Chamber under the report of deputy Orlando Silva (PCdoB-SP). On the 9th, Arthur Lira decided to remake the project’s working group, stating that there were no conditions for forming an agreement to vote on the original text.

The president, upon learning of Felipe Neto’s speech, took him to court for qualified insult at the Legislative Police station, reports Correio Braziliense.

On his social networks, Felipe Neto considered Lira’s reaction reprehensible, and explained that the purpose of the term was to satirize the term “excelentíssimo” without intending to offend the parliamentarian’s honor.

The deputy responded in the early hours of this Friday (26). He said that “freedom of expression is confused with the right to offend, defame and insult”, and that the influencer called him in such a way to “scrape and gain media and likes”, not constituting freedom of expression.

On the afternoon of the same day, the videos of the symposium, available in three parts on the Chamber of Deputies’ YouTube channel, no longer contain the section with Felipe Neto’s speeches.

The same happens with audio recordings, where your name is not even mentioned among the speakers. The exclusion was observed by Congresso em Foco at 4:30 pm, and the situation remained the same at 4:50 pm, the moment this article was written.

The communications department of the Chamber of Deputies was questioned about the reason for the exclusion, as well as the origin of the guidance for the excerpt to be removed. So far, there has been no response.
