Rio – Navy sub-officer Gutemberg Rossini Cardoso, aged 56, who died after being shot in an attempted robbery on Avenida Brasil, was buried this Saturday afternoon (11), at the Jardim da Saudade Cemetery, in Sulacap, in the Zona West of Rio. Disque Denúncia published a poster asking for information about those responsible for his murder.

The man was approached by criminals when he was riding a motorcycle along Avenida Brasil, near Benfica, in the North Zone of Rio, on Thursday night (9). The Military Police reported that agents from Mandela’s Pacification Police Unit (UPP) were called to the scene and met a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) providing assistance to the soldier.

The police were informed that the criminals tried to steal Gutemberg’s motorcycle. The victim was armed with a pistol and allegedly reacted. As a result, the bandits shot and hit the soldier in the head. He was rescued and taken to the Souza Aguiar Municipal Hospital, in the center of Rio, but he did not survive.

Gutemberg lived in Cabo Frio, in the Lagos Region, and had gone to the center of Rio to attend a hearing related to consumer rights. Retired, he posted countless photos with his motorcycle on social media. In fact, the soldier was already part of the Águias de Cristo motorcycle club. The group mourned the victim’s death.

“The news of the loss of our brother caused us great sadness and pain, especially due to the tragic situation in which it occurred, with his life being taken violently, a fact that unfortunately in recent times we see happening very frequently in the major capitals of Brazil. The case is being investigated at the Capital Homicide Police Station (DHC). According to the Civil Police, witnesses are interviewed and investigations are underway to determine who committed the crime and clarify all the facts. Specialist agents look for security cameras to identify the suspects.

Also this Saturday (11), Hotline published a poster to help identify suspects involved in the crime. The agency offers a reward of R$5,000 to anyone who can obtain information about the criminals.
