Para-sports jiu-jitsu fighter from Tocantins is Pan-American champion

The Government of Tocantins has been enabling inclusion in sports through support granted to athletes who represent the State in national and international competitions. This time, with the support of the State Secretariat for Sports and Youth (Seju), the para-athlete from Araguaína, Jeverson Dantas Felix, became champion in the k1 category (quadriplegic wheelchair user), with and without a kimono, in the Pan American Parajiu-jitsu Championshipheld at the Amazonas Vasco Vasques Convention Center, in Manaus/AM.

The fighter has just returned to Tocantins and highlighted the importance of the competition. “This event brings together all classes with disabilities, whatever they may be, autistic, wheelchair users, down syndrome, amputee, blind, where each one is divided into their class by motor mobility. This competition is only aimed at people with disabilities and has become a path to the Paralympics”, reinforced the athlete.

In 2023, the parajiu-jitsu fighter from Tocantins became Brazilian champion. The athlete also collects in his career, the title of AJP Tour Goiâniain addition to the silver and bronze medals in Jiu-jitsu League of Pará. “I would like to thank the Government of Tocantins and the Department of Sports and Youth, for always supporting me in competitions, giving full support. I will always be training, doing my best to represent our State”, concluded the athlete.

The competition was held on April 20th and 21st and is organized by the Brazilian Federation of Paradesportive Jiu-Jitsu (FBJJP). The Para-JiuJitsu category was created exclusively for para-athletes who have some type of disability, be it physical/motor and/or cognitive, that fits into one of the 29 functional classifications.
