From the most famous French perfumes such as Chanel and J’adore, to the Italian brands Dolce & Gabbana and Versace, imported fragrances have always been a source of curiosity and desire to acquire Brazilians who are passionate about cosmetics. However, in recent years, it is Arabic perfumes that have been attracting attention, whether through anonymous reviews on TikTok or through the influence of celebrities, such as Bianca Andrade, from Boca Rosa.

In an interview with Earth, the olfactory director of OUi Paris, Pierre Aulas, explains that the aura of mystery and exoticism make Arabic perfumes extremely attractive to Brazilians. The expert says that they are known for their rich and complex compositions, often incorporating natural ingredients such as oud, amber, spices and exotic florals.

“In addition, the long duration and intense projection of these perfumes are characteristics valued by Brazilian consumers in search of striking and long-lasting fragrances”, says Pierre.

Pierre details that ingredients such as oud, which is a rare and precious aromatic resin, have a special appeal for Brazilians, as they offer a unique and sophisticated sensorial experience.

Notes of rose, jasmine, sandalwood, spices such as saffron and cardamom, and woody notes contribute to the complexity and richness of these fragrances, captivating Brazilian consumers who seek a luxurious and immersive olfactory experience.

The perfumer explains that these perfumes differ from those traditionally sold in Brazil mainly due to their composition and style. While many Brazilian perfumes tend to be lighter, fresher and fruitier, Arabic perfumes are known for their opulence, depth and sensuality.

“Arabic fragrances often present a combination of exotic and rare notes, creating an intense and engaging olfactory experience, which stands out in relation to the lighter and more conventional perfumes found on the Brazilian market”, says the professional.

Popular tourist destinations among Brazilians, such as Dubai, in the Arab Emirates, have stores specializing in these fragrances. In a quick search on social media it is possible to see some influencers visiting the locations. The demand also caused traders to start importing perfumes, which can be found from online stores to popular stores, such as in the Brás region, in São Paulo.
