A 58-year-old man was beaten to death this Saturday (27), in Ipiranga do Norte, 455 km from Cuiabá. According to the Civil Police, the victim was identified as Edenilson Aparecido de Souza. The suspect was arrested by the Military Police.
According to the military, the unit was informed that an injured person was lying in a square in the municipality. On site, The victim was found with multiple injuries to the head.. A medical team from the Municipal Emergency Room confirmed Aparecido’s death.
According to the police report, the victim was in a convenience store with two other people and had started an argument with another man. During the confusion, Aparecido would have fled to the square, when he was chased by the suspect. The man then picked up a stone and hit the victim in the head and then began attacking him with a piece of wood.
The Military Police reported that, after the attacks, the suspect fled the scene, but he was arrested at the company where he works. To the officers, the man confessed to having committed the crime and said he had a “disagreement” with the victim, but that they had just met.
The suspect also said that the victim had pulled a knife to try to hurt him, at which point he picked up the stone and hit Aparecido in the head.
The crime is investigated by the Civil Police.
