During the visit, in an interview with the reporter Gustavo Oliva, from EPTV Sul de Minas, Rede Globo Affiliatethe governor said that he intends to expand care for patients with burns in the region soon.
“It is a priority for my management and we will implement burn units in all regions of the state. This one in São Sebastião do Paraíso is already a step forward, we have another one in Poços de Caldas and we want all Minas Gerais to have a burns treatment of high complexity in the interior of the state so they don’t have to depend on João XXIII, in Belo Horizonte. We already have an advanced contract with the Ministry of Health so that this implementation occurs as soon as possible, including here in the region. So this problem is in progress ways to be solved”, added the governor.
The governor also commented on the dengue outbreak that cities like Passos, Itaú de Minas and São Sebastião do Paraíso are experiencing this year.
“Unfortunately, the dengue outbreak in 2023 was much larger than in previous years, there is always a cycle, two, three years with a small number and then a year with a high number. But we took all the measures, when this outbreak was detected already there was nothing more to be done with regard to the mosquito’s reproductive cycle, but we structured health to provide the best care to those who needed it.
The governor also said that the government of Minas is preparing to build a breeding ground for genetically modified mosquitoes to combat dengue.
“The system has been strengthened and we are already preparing for the next few years so that we can launch that genetically modified mosquito, which will reduce the problem a lot. We are already preparing the construction of this mosquito breeding site, which will be the definitive solution for dengue”, said Romeu Zema.
brewery works
On the works of the Heineken brewery, in Passos, the governor said that they will start immediately.
“It is already possible to see dozens of earthmoving machines already working on this huge construction site, which is sometimes even bigger than some cities in Minas Gerais, so within 2 years Passos should be receiving completion of what will be one of the largest beer factories of Brazil”, said the governor.
Romeu Zema also commented on the generation of jobs that the factory will provide for Passos and the region.
“This industry will generate a huge amount of jobs. As it is an automated production within the industry, we are talking about 350 direct jobs. But we will have more than 11,000 indirect jobs, because it will hire a series of other companies that will provide outsourced services, such as transportation, catering, maintenance, hotels, and many others. So we are saying that Passos and the region will have an extremely positive impact with the generation of more than 11,000 jobs”, he added.
