The Cesta do Trabalho program, from the Secretariat of Economic Development, Labor and Income (Sedet-DF), reached the mark of 12 thousand basic food baskets distributed throughout the Federal District. The project began in November 2023.
The joint initiative of the GDF and the federal government serves unemployed workers in situations of vulnerability or social exclusion. The project promotes human dignity, food security and the fight against hunger and poverty, in addition to contributing to the intermediation of labor for working citizens.
It is an important initiative to mitigate the effects of the economic crisis, offering essential support to those who need it most. Since implementation, a total of 20,000 requests have been received. The cities of Ceilândia and Sol Nascente lead requests for the benefit, with more than 2,400 baskets having been distributed in these regions, followed by Samambaia with a total of 1,300 units delivered.
Who is entitled to the program
Unemployed workers who wish to participate in the program must meet the following criteria:
· Being unemployed for more than 180 days, proven by the absence of registration in the Work and Social Security Card (CTPS)
· Have a per capita income of up to one monthly minimum wage
· Does not benefit from any income transfer program and/or food supplement from the federal or district government.
How to register
Workers who meet the aforementioned requirements must access the Sedet-DF platform through this link and register. After registering, the applicant must go to a worker agency and meet the requirements to later receive delivery of the Worker’s Basket at their home.
