Anderson Leonardo, singer of the pagode group Molejo, dies at age 51
O musician Anderson Leonardo died this Friday, 26th, at 51 years of age. The information was confirmed by the artist’s team in a statement on social media.
“Our warrior Anderson Leonardo fought bravely, but unfortunately was defeated by cancer, but he will always be remembered by all his family, friends and his immense legion of fans, for his genius, strength and love of the stage and Molejo”, detailed the note.
Vocalist of the pagode group Molejo, the artist had been diagnosed with a inguinal cancera rare type located in the groin region, in 2022. Between going to and from the hospital, Anderson had been hospitalized since March, after feeling severe pain and starting immunotherapy treatment.
“His presence and joy was a light that illuminated the lives of everyone around him, and You will be deeply missed and never forgotten, we love you”, states the note that was also shared on the band’s profile.
Banda Molejo paid tribute to Anderson at Altas Horas
On Saturday, the 20th, Andrezinho and Claumirzinho, members of the group Molejo, paid tribute to their colleague and lead singer of the group. The tribute took place on Globo’s “Altas Horas” program, and featured the participation of pagode singers who marked the 1990s.
In the presentation, the musicians highlighted that the band’s name was suggested by Anderson. After a draw, it was decided that the name would be Molejo.
The group’s percussionist, Andrezinho sang an excerpt of the song “Broom dance”, released in 1997. At the time, the musician highlighted that the song was immortalized in the voice of Anderson Leonardo.
