According to the Novo Hamburgo Health Foundation (FSNH), the report stated that the newborn will not have brain problems caused by the error. The institution explains that this is a painless exam, without ionizing radiation or any other type of risk.

In addition to the procedure, HMNH announced that, in recent days, the antibiotic applied during Fagner’s recovery had been changed. The change aims to increase the baby’s rehabilitation capacity. According to the hospital, the exchange took place as a precaution.

The case

A week ago, the baby would have received formula milk via vein instead of serum. The error in the application was made by an employee, dismissed by the FSNH. Shortly after the fact, the child ended up intubated and an inquiry was launched to investigate the case.

Fagner’s parents are residents of Venâncio Aires and the boy was born in Vale do Sinos. The transfer was carried out due to the risk, as the baby would be born prematurely.

According to her mother, Diulia Passos Magalhães, 34 years old, she was returning to Venâncio Aires when she was notified. Since then, she has chosen to remain full-time at the hospital, accompanying her son.

The foundation that manages the hospital has not yet confirmed whether it has been proven that the substance injected into the child’s vein was baby formula.
