Dr. Bernardo highlighted that one of the main objectives of plastic surgery is to restore patients’ well-being, self-esteem and confidence.

On Princesa FM’s Jornal do Meio Dia program, plastic surgeon Dr. Bernardo Fontes gave an interview, addressing various aspects of plastic surgery and its impact on patients’ lives.

Dr. Bernardo highlighted that one of the main objectives of plastic surgery is to restore patients’ well-being, self-esteem and confidence.

“This is a major objective of the plastic surgeon, to restore our patient’s well-being, self-esteem and confidence. We try to make people feel better about themselves, giving their life a boost. When we feel good about ourselves, things flow more pleasantly.”

During the interview, the surgeon highlighted the importance of aligning patients’ expectations with the reality of the procedures.

“In our consultation, based on this entire assessment, we will discuss risks, benefits and indications. It’s great when we can bring happiness back to that person, that patient.”

Dr. Bernardo emphasized that plastic surgery is not just limited to aesthetics, but can also bring functional and emotional benefits.

“Plastic surgery is not just aesthetic. Imagine you had an accident and got a burn. That burn had a scar that is unsightly and you can soften the expression of that scar, improving its appearance. I think that’s very rewarding.”

The surgeon highlighted the importance of personalized assessments and specific indications for each patient.

“Our goal as a plastic surgeon is to do good, to try to make you feel better and better, to have your self-confidence. Surgery is recommended for you, not someone else. You have to do that procedure because you want it and you are happy with it.”
