Amazonas had a balance of 3,200 formal jobs in March this year, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) released this Tuesday (30) by the Ministry of Labor and Employment.

The results represent the net balance (hirings minus dismissals) of formal job creation. In the month of March, 2,262,420 admissions were registered across the country, minus 2,018,105 dismissals, which resulted in a positive balance of 244,315 jobs for Brazil, which has a stock of 46,236,308 formal jobs.

In Amazonas, there were 22,651 admissions and 19,451 dismissals, generating a balance of 3,200 people hired. By sector, the hiring balances were: Industry with 1,218, services 894, commerce 636, construction 396 and agriculture with 56.

The economist and vice-president of the Amazonas Regional Economic Council (Corecon-AM), Altemir Cordeiro, reported that despite the industry’s positive balance, there is concern about future climate events.

“The economic performance of the Industry in the Manaus Industrial Complex was a positive surprise and reflected in the increase in the number of jobs. There is a concern, given the scenario of worsening river levels that could still create a problem in the logistics of inputs and products in Amazonas and especially in PIM and thus harm economic activities further down the road”, said Cordeiro.

The vice-president of Corecon highlighted that another factor expected to maintain growth is the security of the Manaus Free Trade Zone.

“We hope the advancement of complementary tax reform laws and thus improve the business environment in Brazil and consequently in PIM. The industry in Amazonas depends a lot on family consumption and for this to happen, Brazil needs to increase the generation of jobs and income”, commented Altemir.

The superintendent of Suframa, Bosco Saraiva, highlighted that the tendency is for admissions to increase in the coming months.

“Today we approved another 26 projects at the Suframa Board of Directors, 13 of these are installation projects and new companies that are arriving at the Manaus Industrial Pole, with the prospect of creating more than a thousand jobs, therefore, the curve is positive and the vector it is an increase in terms of job creation in the city of Manaus”, highlighted Bosco.

In addition to installation, 13 industrial diversification and updating projects include investments in different subsectors, with emphasis on the Electronics sector (9 projects approved in total).
