The State Department of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (SEAPA) and its affiliates – Emater-MG, Epamig and IMA – are monitoring the prices of the main products sold in CeasaMinas, in Contagem. The objective is to evaluate the food supply in Minas Gerais.

This analysis of prices charged at the Ceasa-MG Grande BH unit in the last fortnight (04/15/2024 to 04/26/2024) aims to identify supply, demand and possible impacts on supply. This weekly monitoring is in line with society’s concerns regarding the new Coronavirus pandemic.

The 10 most sold fruits in CeasaMinas by volume were collected and analyzed: Pineapple, banana, green coconut, orange, lemon, apple, mango, papaya, watermelon and grape.

The average prices of these products varied throughout the analyzed period:

  • Large Pearl Pineapple: It started the first week at R$70.00 per dozen and ended the second week at R$75.00, registering an increase of 7.1%. The average weekly variation was 2.4%, going from R$70.00 to R$71.67 per dozen.
  • Banana: It started at R$5.50 per kilo and closed the second week at R$5.00, with drops of 7.0% and 6.5%, respectively. The average weekly variation was a drop of 11.6%.
  • Green coconut: It started at R$4.00 and fell to R$3.50 per unit, registering a drop of 12.5%. The average weekly variation was 4.5%.
  • Pear Orange Special: It went from R$3.97 to R$3.55 per kilo, with drops varying between 2.5% and 6.7%. The average weekly variation was 10.5%.
  • Thai lemon: It started at R$2.75 per kilo and fell to R$2.25, with drops of 9.1% and 10.0%. The average weekly variation was a drop of 12.1%.
  • Gala Apple: It started at R$8.88 per kilo and rose to R$9.44, with increases of 3.2% and 3.1%. The average weekly variation was 3.1%.
  • Formosa Papaya: It started at R$4.72 per kilo, rose 16.8% and then fell 9.9%, closing at R$5.00. In the second week, it started at R$5.00 and fell to R$4.44, with an average variation of 7.3%.
  • Tommy Sleeve: In the first week, it fell 7.8%, going from R$3.61 to R$3.33, and in the second week it rose 31%, closing at R$4.72. The average weekly variation was an increase of 16%.
  • Big Watermelon: It started at R$2.70 per kilo and rose to R$2.80, an increase of 3.7%. The average weekly variation was 1.2%.
  • Thompson Grape: It remained stable at R$18.00 per kilo throughout the period analyzed.
