BRASILIA (Reuters) – The Central Bank recorded a negative result of 114.152 billion reais in 2023, below the loss of 298.494 billion reais observed in the previous year, according to a report published by the monetary authority.

Of the results obtained for the year, a loss of 123 billion reais reflects the impact of exchange rate appreciation in the period on international reserves, partially offset by gains from foreign exchange derivative operations (swaps). The balance of non-exchange-related operations was positive at 8.848 billion reais.
