Flamengo hasn’t known what it’s like to lose classics for almost a year, and this Sunday they face Botafogo, the perpetrator of their last defeat. The unbeaten record was built with Jorge Sampaoli and consolidated with Tite, who arrived at the club at the end of last season.
There are now 12 games without losing to Rio’s rivals: two victories over Botafogo; three wins and four draws with Fluminense; two wins and a draw with Vasco. The last defeat was on April 30, 2023, when they were beaten by Botafogo 3-2 in the Brasileirão – a game in which Alvinegro took the top of the table.
