Spread across countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia and France, the protests and camps of university students against Israel reached Brazil. A group of around 40 students camped in the History and Geography courses at the Faculty of Philosophy, Letters and Human Sciences (FFLCH) at the University of São Paulo (USP), on Monday afternoon (7).

The academics defend, among other points, that the institution break agreements with Israeli universities which, according to the protesters, have scientific and technological productions that also have military objectives and attacks on the Palestinian people. The mobilization is organized by the Student Committee in Solidarity with the Palestinian People and receives support from trade unions and political parties.

On the social network Instagram of the movement that promoted the invasion at USP, the group stated that “in recent weeks the international student movement has been on the scene occupying and carrying out occupations in several universities” and that “it organized training on Palestine”.

The group considers that the act is not against the Jewish people and community, but in defense of the Palestinians. The mobilization has no end date and USP has not commented on the invasion.

In the USA, part of the protests have required police intervention, with mass arrests and actions taken by the White House to reestablish order in episodes of violence and obstruction of spaces.
