Teacher is accused of getting pregnant with a teenager while being investigated for abusing another student

A mathematics teacher went to jury in England after being accused of getting pregnant by a teenage student while she was being investigated for sexually abusing another underage student. The information is from the British newspaper DailyMail.

According to the prosecutor in the case, Rebecca Joynes, 30, allegedly gave one of her alleged victims, identified as “Boy A” because he was a minor, a Gucci designer belt worth 345 pounds (about R$ 2,185). She invited him to her flat in Salford, Greater Manchester, where they were said to have been intimate twice.

The case spread and the police were called to the school where Rebecca worked. She was arrested and later released on bail, but the court ruled that the teacher could not have contact with any young person under 18. At the time, she was suspended from her job.

However, while awaiting trial for what happened, it was revealed that she was having a sexual relationship with another student, according to prosecutor Joe Allman. The affair with this second boy was exposed after she told the minor that she was expecting his child. Currently, Joynes has already had the baby, according to the jury.

How the abuses occurred

According to the British Court, in October 2021, the teacher gave additional mathematics lessons to the first student – ​​“boy A”. During one of the classes, as the student told the police, she challenged him to guess his cell phone number, giving him ten of the 11 digits, the prosecutor said.

The prosecutor told jurors this was “obviously a game designed for him to guess her number.” They began exchanging messages and arranged for the 15-year-old to come to her apartment after school on a Friday night, as reported by Joe Allman in court.

“At first he thought she was joking,” Allman said. But that day, she picked him up in her car before picking up her dog from a doggy daycare, dropping the animal off at her parents’ house before taking him to the Trafford Centre.

The jury saw what Allman said was clear footage of the student choosing a belt at Gucci Selfridges. Joynes – wearing a turquoise jacket – could then be seen placing her bank card on the counter before the victim put on her belt. Allman told jurors she was “grooming” the boy. Other surveillance camera footage shows the pair arriving at her apartment, Allman said. The boy told police that they had sex twice.

But after the boy told his friends, police were called to the school and Joynes was arrested. She denied the crime to the jury.

According to the DailyMail, it was only after the first victim’s testimony in court that the alleged relationship with the second student, “boy B”, was revealed. That other student told police they started kissing when he was just 15, but the teacher claims the sexual activity didn’t happen until after he turned 16 and she was fired from her teaching position.

According to the student’s statement to authorities, he tried to follow her on Snapchat in February 2022, where she allegedly sent intimate photos. The messages became ‘flirtatious’, until the minor agreed to go to her apartment.

As the young man reported, the two had sex several times, until the teacher told him she was pregnant. He also stated that he tried ‘repeatedly’ to end the relationship, but she became ‘controlling’ and wouldn’t let him end the relationship.

“In due course, [o menino B] gave his own account. He said that Ms. Joynes was his teacher, that they kept in touch while she was suspended, and that he went to her apartment when she was 15 years old. After he turned 16, he began a full-fledged sexual relationship with her, and she ended up pregnant, much to his shock, because she told him she couldn’t get pregnant because she had polycystic ovary syndrome,” the prosecutor said.

The trial will continue for the next few days.
